In postwar Japan still in technological infancy, our founder,Toshio Mikiya, Representative Director and Chairman, succeeded in the development of groundbreaking Air Micrometers, which measure sizes in units of 1/1,000 millimeters and founded Nitto Kohki to manufacture and market the invention in October 1956. In the process of research and development of Air Micrometers, the company also developed quick connect couplings "CUPLA" from the need to connect fluid pipes. Mr. Mikiya also witnessed the hardship experienced by workers in processing steel materials in the field and thus developed the ATRA portable drilling machine, which incorporates an electromagnet.

The root of the technology of Nitto Kohki that has successively developed unique products ahead of times goes back nearly 150 years or to 1864. Ancestors of the founder then manufactured various craft hardware with many contrivances and large locks for warehouses in addition to swordsmithing, which was the family business. In the Meiji and Taisho Eras, the Mikiya family invented many patented products in succession such as Okiya threshing machines, front-wheeldriven bicycles, and carbide lamps.

Such a DNA of manufacturing has steadily been succeeded from the founder, Toshio Mikiya to employees of Nitto Kohki, and with hydraulic engineering and mechanical engineering as the core technologies the company has explored new horizons of energy and labor saving equipment. We consider manufacturing high quality and highly functional products are essential for sustainable development and ongoing social contribution in the future.

Ashland was founded in 1924 as Ashland Refining Company of Ashland, Kentucky, by Paul G. Blazer. In 1930, the nearby Tri-State Refining Company was purchased, adding 5,500 barrels per day of capacity to the company. The company continued to merge or acquire other oil companies, combining with Swiss Oil in 1936, Allied Oil in 1948, Aetna Oil in 1949, and purchasing Frontier Oil Refining and National Refining in 1950. By that time, the company began to diversify, adding petrochemicals to its portfolio with the acquisition of R. J. Brown Company in 1956 and United Carbon in 1963.

Diversification continued with the purchase of Warren Brothers in 1966, which later was to become Ashland Paving and Construction. A significant acquisition was made in 1967 when the company purchased ADM Chemical Group; whose chemical distribution business would go on to be one of the primary businesses of the company in the later part of the 20th century. In 1969, the company reorganized to form Ashland Petroleum, as well as entering into a joint venture in Coal miningunder the name Arch Mineral.

In the 1980s and early part of the 1990s, Ashland continued to expand, buying The Permian Corporation and merging it with Scurlock Oil Company in 1991 to form a subsidiary known as Scurlock Permian Corporation. In 1992, most of Unocal's chemical distribution business was acquired, making Ashland the top chemical distributor in North America. At this time, the Industrial Chemicals & Solvents (IC&S) division was established. The company's name was changed from "Ashland Oil" to the present "Ashland Inc." in 1995, which noted the reduced importance of oil in the overall business.

In 1998, the petroleum division merged with Marathon Oil to form Marathon Ashland Petroleum, LLC (MAP). Following that in 1999, Ashland agreed to sell its Scurlock Permian subsidiary to Plains All American Pipeline and the headquarters were moved from Russell, Kentucky, to Covington, Kentucky, although the company maintains an office in Russell. A monumental change came in 2005, when Ashland sold its shares of the Marathon Ashland Petroleum joint venture to Marathon Oil, effectively dissolving the remnants of their petroleum division. After the sale, the company was no longer involved in the refining or marketing of fuels. The original oil refinery in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, is still in operation today and is owned and operated by Marathon. In 2006, Ashland sold APAC (the paving and construction division) to the Oldcastle Materials subsidiary of Oldcastle Inc. of Dublin, Ireland.

Ashland purchased the adhesive and emulsions divisions of Air Products & Chemicals in 2008. Ashland announced plans to acquire Hercules Inc. on July 11, 2008 for $3.3B. On November 13, 2008, the transaction was completed.

In July 2010 Ashland merged its foundry chemicals activity with Süd-Chemie of Munich, Germany to form ASK Chemicals L.P. with headquarters in Dublin, Ohio.

In November 2010 Ashland announced plans to sell its Distribution business known as Ashland Distribution to TPG Capital for $930 Million. The Ashland Distribution business had been a part of Ashland since 1969. With revenues of $3.4 billion, the Ashland Distribution business had approximately 2,000 employees across North America and Europe, and entered the China plastics market in 2009. The sale was finalized April 1, 2011 with a final sale price of 979 million(USD). The new privately held company is named Nexeo Solutions.

In May 2011 Ashland announced that it had bought the privately owned company International Specialty Products Inc. (ISP) for $3.2 billion. ISP is a supplier of specialty chemicals and performance enhancing products for consumer and industrial markets. Valvoline Instant Oil Change moved into the Southern California area in March 2012 when the EZ Lube franchise had been purchased by Henley Enterprises, VIOC's largest franchisee.

Streamlight is a "hands-on" company; we've been one since the company started in 1973, 40 years ago. We learn by doing, so we understand what our customers need because we're out there doing what they do, using the same lighting tools in the same ways. We go through firefighters' training. We take courses in low-light shooting. We're hunters, fishermen, outdoor and sports enthusiasts. We believe it's our hands-on, real-world experience that leads to new ideas andinnovations that set Streamlight apart. Who knows what we'll come up with next?

We Listen. We Learn. We Get It. We make it a point to get out in the field and talk to our customers. We hold focus groups to hear what they like about our products; but we're more interested in what they don't like, what needs to be improved, and what lighting problems have yet to be solved. Customer feedback helps us continually improve existing products and create new and better ones. Since the most extreme hazardous conditions are often in dark places, Streamlight created a complete line of safety-rated lights. For the industrial market, we've developed lighting tools that are safe to use even around explosive gases and in other potentially explosive atmospheres.

We Didn't Invent Customer Service; We Just Perfected It. Our success is directly related to our ability to satisfy customers. So we take customer service very seriously. Our inside sales department includes specialists in each of the markets we serve. They go through extensive training on all our products, even working on the assembly line and in the factory service center. They know Streamlight products inside/out. They understand the challenges you face and they know how to help you find the best lights and get the most from your purchases. We'll work with you and do whatever it takes to help you.

We Support Our Products With A Limited Lifetime Warranty. Streamlight warrants our products to be free of defects, including LED, for a lifetime of use. To read our full warranty, go to Streamlight's Warranty page.

If you have questions or would like to process a warranty claim, go to Streamlight's FAQ section for locations and information about Streamlight's service center near you, including factory information.

The old Cole Hersee Company has become the Commercial Vehicles Products division of another long-established company, Littelfuse, Inc, which now manufactures and markets reliable devices under the well-recognised Cole Hersee brand.

Cole Hersee has been manufacturing reliable electrical switches for vehicles in Boston for close to 90 years, and throughout our history we've been recognized for our innovative products. Some of our innovative switches have been awarded patents (such as the one shown above granted in 1916). Many of the electrical and electronic switches and connectors we make today are specified by OEMs, or used as high-quality replacement parts.

Although we take 1924 as the date when Cole Hersee was established our antecedents go back even further to the dawn of the automobile age: The Henry Cole Company of Boston was founded in 1914, as a manufacturer of lamp sockets and other equipment, and the FC Hersee Company was an old-established machine shop. The resources of these companies were combined in the 1930s and the company name changed in 1941 to the brand name that is synonymous today with high quality: Cole Hersee.

In the old days, switches were switches. They were installed on any vehicle, and our switches were fitted into cars, trucks, farm tractors, boats, and even airplanes. Nowadays our focus is more specialized to heavy vehicles, not including the automobile or aerospace industries. Throughout our history, the company has pioneered the development of hundreds of new products and collaborated on many industry standards that are essential to the industry today.

LaCrosse was established in Wisconsin in 1897 as the LaCrosse Rubber Mill in the city of La Crosse. The company became the largest employer in that city in 1930. In 1994, the company acquired Portland, Oregon-based Danner Boots in a merger that was expected to create a company with an annual revenue of $100 million. Company revenues had grown to $138 million for fiscal year 2000. A month later the company announced plans for an initial public offering (IPO) worth up to $24 million in order to help purchase Danner. At the time, LaCrosse had annual sales of $82 million.

The IPO went ahead in April 1994, raising nearly $18 million with a stock symbol of BOOT. LaCrosse bought footwear maker Lake of the Woods in June 1997 for $6.5 million. The company closed its US-based manufacturing for the namesake brand in July 2001, and later that year moved its headquarters to Portland in order to consolidate operations and take advantage of the concentration of shoe companies in the Portland metropolitan area. Later that year, it also reported the first quarterly profit since 1999. In 2010, LaCrosse opened a new factory in Portland for its Danner brand, which helped it earn a contract with the U.S. Department of Defense in September 2011 for making boots for the Marine Corps.

In July 2012, the company announced ABC-Mart would purchase LaCrosse for $20 per share. ABC-Mart, a Tokyo-based retailer, had approximately 800 stores in Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. LaCrosse hoped to use those distribution channels to expand their brand in Japan where the company's US made boots were popular. At the time of the announcement, LaCrosse had 300 employees in Portland, and no layoffs were expected. The deal was finalized in August, with LaCrosse then becoming a private company. President and CEO Joseph Schneider then left the company in September 2012.
